At Steppin’ Out Ballroom our goal is to make our students well rounded dancers. To do this we use three different types of lessons to fully develop all the skills necessary to becoming a competent and confident dancer that can dance with any partner they may meet on the dance floor, not just their professional instructors.
During a student’s one-on-one private lesson, they will receive personalized instruction that will help them achieve their goals in dancing. They will be learning material from a program created specifically for them. The instructor will spend the time necessary on technique, styling, and general dance improvement. Utilizing this time to work on performance routines or competitive dances that are a part of the student’s program. An up-to-date record of everything the student has learned will also be kept as part of their instruction.
Group classes are an important supplement to a student’s private instruction. Groups give students the opportunity to dance with a variety of partners, develop good dance habits, and meet other students in the studio. Group lessons emphasize technique and variation of patterns. This will get you ahead of the game in your private lessons, allowing your private instructor to polish and move on from what you will have learned in the groups, instead of teaching you the patterns from scratch.
The studio holds scheduled dance parties for all of our students. These practice parties are held on a weekly basis and are extremely vital to successfully learning to dance. Students have fun dancing with the instructors and other students in a relaxed and comfortable environment that simulates what it would be like to actually go out dancing. These sessions give students the opportunity to practice and try out all the new dance skills that they have learned during Private and Group lessons.
